Nah, I prefer having the looming death clock overlooking me and motivating me to do stuff.

Meh, it'd be a waste of time on me. I'd just beat off till the cows came home. Which I would probably live to see.

I am Takezo Kensei! I will have my revenge on Hiro for imprisoning me underground.

This world gets a little bit worse each decade as people become dumber and expect others to do more for them instead of taking care of themselves. There is no fucking way I would want to live forever. Things are going to get incredibly bad sooner than I am going to die now.

In time, I'm sure we'll cure the ancient malady of death.

But not anytime soon. I'd give it maybe......300 years if we really work on it. Maybe make it 1000, to account for wars and protests against screwing with <deity's> divine gift of death.

Cells keep decaying, and even if you have spare cloned organs, there's still the matter of continuing degradation of your brain. Options:
- Somehow stop the degradation, effectively ending the aging process for cells. Maybe make a backup copy of your DNA at birth, and somehow infuse it into the body, and have it replace the older DNA later in life? Nanotechnology, maybe?
- Move the mind into an artificial storage medium. That would take a long time though; we'd need good quantum computing technology to make that feasible.

No, hell no.
I hope not.

But then again, who needs immortality when religion promises you the same thing.

Voted for near future, but didn't realize you meant 30-50 years. More like 100 to 300. More if the world is held back by economy and greed.

I sure as heck don't want to live forever, though.

I have always found this topic very interesting, and that website provides some useful information about the possibility of eliminating or reversing the aging process.

I am certainly not an expert in genetics, but I just think they are being hopelessly optimistic about when this technology would become available.
