I hope people raise a big voice against the lack of online multiplayer, and Bizarre will listen and patch it. Would be awesome doing some co-op without the screen pulling way back and having voice chat and shit.

Voice chat? What are you going to chat? "shoot that stuff trying to kill us!"
"crap, I'm dead"
😀

Exactly. Voice chat wouldn't be for strategy, it'd be for pure hilarity. It's complete chaos, and the shit you'd say during it would be funny as hell. I'd have a hilarious time with my brother or friend online with this thing, we just don't get over to each other's house that often at all to play local co-op.

the lack of online multiplayer is soley a technical issue, the dev talked about it, i remember reading it just not where. with a game that needs so much precision such as this, the online just would not work with that precision, so they took it out. as disappointed as I am about it as well, i can completely understand it. imagine if you just had a little HINT of lag when things get hectic? it would completely throw you off.

also, the black holes are good for both killing right away and letting them collect stuff. when there is not much on screen i will kill them right away. if it is getting very VERY hectic on screen and I see one I may shoot it so it sucks up enemies and get them off my back. i always try to NOT have them explode but sometimes they do.

also with blackholes, all of the enemies they suck up, when you destroy the blackhole, you get the points for those enemies as well.

After playing GW2 for a couple of hours yesterday and today, I decided to back and play the first one just because, and to see how it held up. I remember the first one looking pretty awesome back when I first played it a couple of years ago, but after playing GW2, GW1 looks like complete shit 🙂.

Alright, I played the demo. I may be slightly addicted, not sure yet. Should I give in and get the full version?

Does the pope wear a funny hat? Does a fish have a water tight ass?

Yes.

Does the full version offer anything better than just the demo or is it more of the same?

the demo is 1 of the 6 modes. the one i'm most addicted to is pacifism.

OK so I just got back from a friend's house who had the game purchased.

First off, we played some 3-4 player games, and I have mixed feelings. There is so much going on, that it's just too chaotic and often you lose track of your ship amidst all of the bright, colorful explosions. A fun twist is combing teams - so one ship is two players - one to fire and one to shoot. It eliminates a lot of the clutter on screen and is a nice twist to the traditional game.

Of the new modes, waves is without a doubt the best - and if I were to buy this game it would be primarily for this addition.

Some things I definitely don't like - the change in the weapon upgrade system (you basically have the simple 2-laser shot the majority of the game) - the change in the enemies' patterns (they don't come out of the corners in masses as much) - and the fact that the colors are too bright (the graphics and explosions are much nicer, but they're too big and bright that it effects the gameplay).

I'm not sure if it merits $10.

You're insane 😛

$10 is nothing, a few beers or a movie ticket? I'd pay $20 for this. It's easily the best and most addictive game on XBLA.

 $10 is pretty fucking cheap for this game.

But of course, I don't mind the lack of weapon upgrades. Hell, I never understood how they worked in the first one, I just used whatever I had when it made me change. I do kind of miss the en-masse exodus from the corners, though, since like ducci said, it doesn't happen hardly at all any more.

I suppose $10 is cheap, but I still have this mental stigma where I find it difficulty to pay that much for a game with no physical presence.

Eh, maybe I'll buy it.

after tryin for that smile achievement for like 2 hours straight, and getting to the last stage 3 times w/out a bomb but having the "smile" going, timing out once and dying 2 times, i took a break from the game.

then i came back like an hour later and on my 2nd try i got it 🙂.

this time i got to the last stage w/a bomb and ended up doing well enough to finish it 🙂

I broke down and bought it. You guys are persuasive. I then proceeded to get top score on my friends list in every category.

What is the smile achievement?

on sequence mode, time out on levels 2 and 4, then on levels 11, 15, 17, 18, and 19 die, and pass the rest of them.

Alright Ducci, whats your gamertag. I only have one person on my gamerlist that plays and Ive already beat all his top scores, I need someone to shoot for.

Well damn, I was happy holding second place out of my friends (that's what I get for having purbeast on my friends list), but I guess you've pushed me down to 3rd. I actually think my scores are pretty good for my skill level, I feel like I suck at the game.

The smile achievement sounds difficult.

Alright, I don't know how the hell I'm gonna get 8mil in the 3 minute game. Max I can achieve is like 2.5mil. Any tips?

Multiplier and don't die is the best advice I can give - original, I know.

Also since your multiplier is due to geoms now, it's not a bad idea to rush at the guys you are killing to sweep up the geoms they drop instead of the usual circling around and shooting backwards. Once the board becomes chaos, though, circling still works best.

Yeah, my scoring is not that good right now. Trying to figure out the game, only have maybe 2 hours into the game.
