I read about this earlier today. I always just played for the fun of it. Now-a-days it is ultra competitive.

Exactly! I've seen more and more articles in the paper about parents/coaches becoming unhinged when involved with youth sports; assaulting refs, fighting with other parents, screaming obscenities at opposing players, etc. Too many parents are trying to live vicariously through their children, instead of just letting them enjoy the sport. :disgust:

Pffft... its always been like this. I think you were just lucky enough not to experience it. My parents really didn't give a crap that I played sports, but some of my teammates had parents that were a weee bit overzealous.
