Little Chinese girl run over by van, pedestrians do nothing to help

Not to criticize her, that's her child and it is a completely understandable reaction she had. But it is cringe worthy and likely did more harm than good.

True. Though given the age of the child and the trauma it suffered it was probably already too late by that point. Probably too late for any of the bystanders to have done anything.

My understanding is they have arrested the driver of the 2 trucks that ran over her. Knowing China and the outrage they will be lucky if they aren't torn limb from limb.

Do you expect anything less from a country that puts poison into dog food and toothpaste?

And we are trading with them why? And giving them our technology? Are we insane?

The west wasn't much different during the early days of capitalism. Cases such as these have occurred here too.

If this is part of the society truly because of the lawsuits, then that's especially disgusting. I thought the legal system in the states was pretty broken, but apparently it's horrendous the world over.

Things need to change... immediately. The people will not put up with this bullshit much longer.

this wouldn't happen here in Denmark, first off because I doubt you could even find 10 people so indifferent about a little girl, but most importantly because you are forced by law to help out a victim the best you can. you also can't be sued afterwards.

Perhaps not but people are never as altruistic as we think they are. It's been proven time and again scientifically.

I wonder how often the average person comes across something like this. My first thought is that EMT-level first aid should be mandatory in school. I think a lot of the problem is people not knowing how to help.
Even if I had hardcore first aid training, I probably wouldn't help random people. I'm not going to risk making my family homeless and poor as the result of some bullshit lawsuit.

I am not excusing the incident, but I do want to caution against the sensationalist rhetoric. It's easy to pass judgement on others especially considering how tragic this is, but I doubt most of the people on this forum would reach out to that child if they were one of the onlookers.

You are a fucking idiot

Anyone who justifies the lowest common denominator justifies nothing. I haven't been this repulsed, perhaps ever.

Obviously, these types of incidents aren't exclusive to China

A heroic homeless man, stabbed after saving a Queens woman from a knife-wielding attacker, lay dying in a pool of blood for more than an hour as nearly 25 people indifferently strolled past him, a shocking surveillance video obtained by The Post reveals.

Some of the passers-by paused to stare at Hugo Alfredo Tale-Yax last Sunday morning and others leaned down to look at his face.

By checking out the responses from Chinese forums 99% are outraged.

But on the other hand they are saying that they have fear of being sued by being a good samaritan. It looks like China has a lot of these famous cases.

If only I have the financial means I will do everything I can to help this girl. Send the best doctors and equipment.

I will go hug my 2 year old niece tomorrow.

Why was a child left alone to walk out into the street? Shouldn't the blame fall on the parents, not the bystanders?

You are simply trolling here, but the mother is taking responsibility...this happened in front of their shop and she was hanging up laundry. Next thing she realized the child was gone and this.

However; that does not excuse the other's for not doing anything once the child was injured.

Yet you brag about taking drugs and drugging chicks...seems you are putting your family at risk already for the things you really want to do.

As someone currently finishing up an EMT course, really the part that made me cringe the most was the woman at the end, picking up the child and letting him flail about. While she had good intentions, she could be doing worse for the child than the guy who stopped and kept going on the motorbike.

Getting help in other countries is a lot different than it works in lawsuit happy USA.
