Hmm....I'll keep that option in mind I guess, but I'm not exactly "handy" with tools, I suppose. :p Plus I'd probably rather just spend that money on getting more performance instead of making things quieter (unless the water cooling itself could get me a substantial improvement in CPU overclocks, for example). My current fans (4 80mm case fans + PSU fan) don't bother me at all and are basically "silent" for my purposes...it's only the CPU fan, and I have the feeling that if I could get a sufficiently large (120mm) heatsink and fan, I could probably do some good overclocking without the 80mm cyclone I've got going now....:p

One thing for sure, A64 puts out ~55W and overclcoked barton pushing 150W!!!!! You Need to make 90nm A64 move if you really want silent, I mean 5ft away silent.... then there are other factors once you chill out all CPU and GPU noise... HDD's, and PSU you begin to notice and want to fix. Seagate barracuda's suspended fixes the first... the second is more difficult for high power PSU's..which is why mine enermax 651 is cut all to hell and modded with a nexus 120mm fan at silent rpms..

What case?

And yes water cooling is substantial even setup silent wise. My GPU is 44C, was 70C on air. My CPU never get above 40C and I can push whatever current and volts I want too only worrying about prime never looking at temps.

Haha...I suppose then my AXP at 2.4GHz is kinda pushing it then. :p (It is a T-bred B and not a Barton though.) I should have figured when I couldn't ever get my idle temps below about 50°C. ;)

My power supply is fine....my previous one was about to die in a fire, so I went ahead and replaced it with a Seasonic S12 600W, which is basically silent from what I read (not that I would know right now with my CPU fan noise above it though).

Water cooling is tempting though, I just have to figure out how much I'm gonna be able to spend on this upgrade this summer. An A64 X2 is kind of pushing it already.....:p

Edit: Case is the Chieftec version of this, basically.

Yeah seasonic owns all. Just get a termalright XP120 with 120mm nexus to start with..it's pretty darn quiet and effcient... set it up whereby mobo controls the fan rpm via whatever temp you choose in bios for modulation to kick in and it will be quiet when doing thinking work..kick in when gaming.

Some other things you can do is 7V those rear 80's, maybe substiute for some jap made panaflos (i have 18 of them if interested) wich are extremely quiet and balanced.

You don't need water for quiet and high performance but I made the move in true quest for silence after hundreds spent on air products..never looked back.

Ya that rig is really is easy to watercool cheap. Rad fits right under drive bays after pulling out bottom container... If intersted pm me we crapped enough here:D

PS a GT alone is a hot mofo..hotter than any A64 OCed.

EDIT: I forgot another thing that stopped me... All those SLI chipsets are fanned!!! With no way to make them passive cooled or water block cooled since they sit directly under second GPU. I don't do fans.:) especially loud ass high rpm 60mm ones.

I have an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe and am using a zalman passive heatsink in place of the loud, whiny chipset fan, and haven't had a single problem yet (With the exception of the BIOS whining about the chipset fan not working, but that only happens when I flash, then i turn notification off). I might add that I'm running two BFG 6800 GTs, and there's plenty of space.
