This Laptop mentions having this kinda battery but it doesn't give any specs on it like whether it is 100W/hr or less does anyone know what w/hr this battery might have ???
do all Lithium-Ion Batteries have the same capacity ??
i'm not too worrried about the battery adding weight
just curious which might be the best and highest W/hr
what exactely makes a Lithium-Ion battery special and what other kindsa batteries are there ??

thanks for any battery imput in advance

What are you talking about when you say 100 W/hr (Watts per hour) - such a unit is meaningless when talking about batteries. Do you mean 100 Wh (Watt-hours)? This would be a big, high capacity battery, probably big enough to be a 'double' or 'triple' capacity upgrade battery.

Or do you mean Wh/kg (Watt-hours per kilogram) - 100 is a pretty realistic target for Li-ion, meaning that battery with 100 Wh capacity would weigh 1 kg (or 2.2 lb)

Li-ion is the most modern battery technology, offering the highest power to weight ratio, and the best power to volume ratio. NiMH is older, and offers equally good volume, but is nearly 2x the weight for the same power. NiCd is older still, and needs about 2x the weight, and 2x the volume of NiMH as well as suffering from 'memory'.

Just to clarify, Nickel-Metal Hydrite (NiMH) batteries can also suffer from "memory", it's recommended you completely drain them about every 2 weeks.

Generally the "most advanced" battery type is considered to be Lithium-Polymer. But I doubt they're available for your purposes, and would be very expensive, so Li-Ion is definately the way to go.

Li-Ion batteries all have included charging control circuitry (they could easily explode if they didn't) so even though they last for fewer charging cycles than NiMH (about 1/2 or 2/3 I believe) they will probably last just as long because erratic charging methods won't shorten its life like it would with NiCad/NiMH

alrigh thanks
when a laptop says it can hold two batteries at the same time does this mean that you will have the battery life of both batteries added together ??
and will it seemlessly switch between the two batteries without a reboot ??

It's a Sager so it is probably pretty big. Possibly 96WH.

NO. I've seen them range from 30WH to 100WH.

They don't weigh much and they hold a lot of power. Li-Ion are the only kind you will find in use in any good laptop today. There are also NICD, NIMH, and SLA batteries (you will never see a laptop with a SLA battery 😉 ). NICD and NIMH are older and don't work as well as Li-Ion.

Yes the life will be twice as long (as long as both batteries are the same capacity and condition). It should be able to switch without a reboot but I've never really tried (I don't have 2 batteries).
