pitch it in the trash and buy a new one moron

When I am buying something, I do expect it to work half a year after purchase.

I don't think it is unreasonable to expect at least a reply for a product that has a 1 year waranty. When it died well within its waranty period. I bet you like to take it up the ass

Zulu's "moron" reference was uncalled but yours was no better. You let him pull you down to his level with that one.

Zulu does have a good point. You can't honestly expect to get a high quality CD-RW Drive for $9 after rebates now do you?

No doubt about that. Most hardware today has become disposable anyway, especially since PC'ers upgrade so often. It was the "moron" followed by the "ass" comment that I was referring to but I certainly wasn't offended by it. Forums are highly flammable by nature anyway, and I've gotten more than a little sarcastic with some of my initial replies and have had to back them down a little. AT's board and users are a cut above other trash boards IMO and I hope it stays that way.

How about $70 before rebate?

Heh, whom do you think gives you the money when you send in the rebate :p Your buying a cheap product, you've got no right to complain. If want the best CD-RW, go get a Plextor. You should be able to get one around the $70 Range, or a Samsung CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive for $80 :D

WHy are people putting down others because they got a good price on a dvd drive? Most dvd drives are cheap anyways. You should still expect good customer service if the product is crappy.

i am not sure about his statement, but if he is saying that he called liteon the company, then there is his problem. he brought it from newegg, just rma it from them, and its a smooth ride

anyways, i brought 24x liteon 1 and a half year ago, crap out last month, rma it with newegg, within 3business days, i got a brand new 52x liteon :D i really dont expect much from liteon itself since i only pay like 50bucks for it, so be real about it.

I also like my liteon for its lack of vibration: none at all! I've had a hp 10x4x32x - and it vibrated like a...a tool, with a similar name :D . Odd. Also, i got a good motor in it: the "whistling" kind, not the "whirring" kind. (The whirring ones are getting obsolete, and are MUCH noisier as opposed to whisling ones. I think its due to different bearings, and vibration reduction). The only thing i dont like about my drive, is the lack of some dust-protective band on its door. My 24x liteon is like a vacuum cleaner: when i spraed it with the air-duster, SO MUCH dust flew out! I was surprised how that thing worked!

How did THIS happen??!

That happened to my mate in a Lite On drive, didnt gut the drive though he just cleaned it and kept going, still going 2 years later. Mines 4 years old ive had no problems with them, i recommend them to anyone and build them in all my systems, never had one break, mines being used for writing once a day and reading alot of the time, i play games through it which makes it fire up and slow down....guess im lucky <<Touch wood>>.

1 year, 1 liteon burner, 1 liteon dvd player, both work fine...

For me: Case closed, liteon is a good company...

Zero posts after origin of thread? Check.
Blatant "_____ sucks" title? Check.
Whiny tone easily pictured? Check.

Relatively uninspired though. Troll score = 6.5/10

I have an old 40x liteon cd-rom that doesn't work anymore, but other than that, my 24x liteon burner has ripped at least 500 cd's and burned probably the same... heavy usage and it still chugs along :)

Yes, LITEONS ARE TOO LOUD!

Why do I have to adjust my speaker volume levels just so I can hear the movie over the DVD drive? And the CDRWs are okay, but still too LOUD.
