The model number...LTC-48161.....when using a Yahoo lookup indicates that his drive is a DVD-ROM reader and CD-R/RW drive. NOT a DVD burner. 48X CD-R and 16X DVD read speed. If so, then this isn't hot......sorry!

BASED on the model number, it will probably READ both of them...but will BURN neither...as it appears to be a reader...not a writer (in DVD terms anyway)!

I agree not hot at all, BUT read the prod.desc. at the bottom were it clearly states
that it reads AND writes DVD..Target is going to have a lot of angry people
if they dont chane the desc.

funny... I knew this was the combo drive, not the burner... with 110% guarantee and $20 coupon at OD, it's not a flaming deal but a good deal nontheless..

But word though... Target will have some angry customers...

yes it does...

Yes..it reads them (notice the single/dual layer....i.e. READS those type of Disks as Dual layer BURNERS, while they exsist, aren't available to the general public just yet). I think Target is screwed up. :p

If you do a search using the model number target has posted at the top of the page you will find it's a combo drive (DVD Reader/CDRW)

It looks like the web ad composer compiled the ad without understanding the differences between LiteOn's various DVD drives.

The model number is definitely a 48x cd-rw/16x DVD combo drive. No DVD writing capability.

The picture and ad copy look like one of LiteOn's DVD-RW drives. I think the ad copy is for the LDW-401S because there is no mention of dual, as in dual format.

Specs For most LiteOn Drives

ZipZoomFly's LTC-48161H $54 shipped listing

ZipZoomFly's LTW-401S $105 shipped listing

ZipZoomFly shows the retail boxes and their LTW-401S box looks just like the Target LTC-48161 box.

I might check the shelf at my local Target but I will not bother ordering online. The shipping department probably knows exactly what they should fulfill our orders with.

Ordered one and then noticed the thread discrepancy about it not being a DVD burner. Within 10 minutes went back online to cancel the order (BTW Lite-On website confirmed this is not a DVD burner) but even though my order was 10 minutes on and hadn't shipped I never got the option to cancel it. I then called their 800 number and was told I'll just have to refuse the shipment when it arrives. What bull is this? Trying to cancel your order within 10 minutes of placing it isn't possible! Anyway, I told the guest service representative about the discrepany and she noted it stating that one other person had called about it and she said the ad states that it is a DVD burner.
