This isn't scamming. This IS outright theft, aka, larceny since the perpetrator had the specific intent to permanently deprive the store of its property! I hope the AH used a cc to buy it originally so they can potentially ID and jail him/her.

You are right. Another problem are the employees themselves not checking each item returned to the store. I know i will hear arguments of, they are overworked, but the fact is , they didnt checked the item correctly.
And also, this happens also on different stores. I got my audigy 2 off OD. System recognized it without asking for drivers. Weird. Oh well. Checked Device Manager, says something else. Took out the card and check the SN. It checks off from the website that it is Audigy 2. Still not convinced, took off the sticker. Someone stuck the sticker to an off brand 16 bit sound card. Forgot the Manufacturer. Took it back. Manager was like, maybe Creative outsource from another company. I was like, someone returned this and you guys didnt check it thoroughly. Bad thing was, everything was shrink wrapped. So its either an employee who took it or someone returned it, OD shrink wrapped it and sold it again as new.
