I just got my Cendyne(a rebadged Verbatim/Liteon) and I could not find the DOS flash utility for the drive!

Can someone provide me with a link to it! Thanks in advance!

hi, i followed instructions (thanks to lex luthor) and everything worked great, upgraded my verbatim to a lite-on..

follow lexs instructions and you can't go wrong...

ok.for anyone who got the verbatim 321240A with the 12 digit serial number, it should be able to be converted to a liteon 32123S.

I did mine and it worked like a charm.

Instructions are found here:
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?s=8f9912eef1f8c99f3467b3d3631c05e8&threadid=45977

You can get the .bin file for the liteon 32123S by following the link where it says this:
No? If your drive is a Lite-On drive you may check out my collection of firmwares
here.
Click the word "here", then go to the LTR-32123S directory, then to the bin directory and get the xs0u.rar file and un-rar it to get the bin.

Proceed at your own risk. It worked for me, but have no clue if it will for others. If you are unsure of how to proceed, you probably are best not

CONFIRMED! Here's the way I did it. I downloaded just as tydas described above. Created a startupdisk in Windows XP. (Right clicked on floppy in My Computer and Format - then clicked on MS DOS startup disk and formatted). I then had to delete the Keybrd2.XXX, Keybrd3.XXX, EBD2.XXX, EBD3.XXX (where XXX is the extension I don't remember) files to make room for a backup .bin file. After creating the disk, I copied mtkflash.exe and Xs0U.bin to the floppy.
1. I rebooted by floppy.
2. Made a backup of the bin file by typing (MTKFLASH_"1"_R_/B_/M_backup.bin) "_" are spaces.
********** The number "1" is for the drive being on the Primary Master IDE Channel***********
(I suggest you read the details for another type of drive on the CDFreaks site).
3. Rebooted as told.
4. Wrote the new bin by typing (MTKFLASH "1" W /B XS0U.bin)
5. Rebooted as told.

Step 2, making a backup, took a while, around 3 min, and writing, step 4, took a minute or so. That's it! Now I have an LTR-32123S.

Edit: A couple things CDFreaks said:
1. Not to boot up any CDROM drivers. Delete them off floppy if you formatted some other way than I have.
2. Put the drive to Primary Master.
3. Don't forget to do step 2 and backup.
4. Be careful! I have a Verbatim 321240AL X8S2(at startup). It was flash type: SST(SST39VF040) when I backed it up.

can anyone hook me up with the xs0u.bin file? i downloaded the rar but for some reason winRAR can't extract it.

I ordered that drive and recieved a lite-on there were no other stickers on this drive except lite-on is that wierd or what?

So can anyone confirm that the liteon 32123S can be overclock? Maybe to a 48X12x48?

Unfortunately the 32123S can NOT be flashed to a faster firmware.🙁
