I hawe :

IDE 1 = HDD Primary Master (UDMA 100) + DVD 12X Toshiba Prymary Slave (UDMA 33)
IDE 2 = CDRW Liteon Secondary Master (Multiword DMA 2)

The DVD 12X Tosiba is ok UDMA 33
But i cant' set 40X12X48 liteon CDRW in UDMA 33 and is the single device in the sec. ide port and is set as Secondary Master .
I try to enable UDMA 33 in drive but i cant' do this , the best i can do is "Multiword DMA 2".
I use the Win 98 SE OS , Secondary Master Ide chanell UDMA is set to AUTO in motherboard bios .
I hawe 40 Pin cable for CDRW.
Thx for your time and help .

Multiword DMA 2 IS ATA33.
No, multiword dma 2 is like PIO mode 4 (16MB/s) but with direct memory access, and both operate at a maximum of 16MB/s transfer rate.

It doesn't support UDMA 33. Check the datasheet, and you'll find it supports only MW DMA 2 mode.
Straight from the description on Lite-On's web site:

"E-IDE Interface, support up to Ultra-DMA mode 2."
And UDMA 2 IS ATA33. As far as Lite-On is concerned, it should be running at UDMA (at least ATA33).

I wouldn't lose any sleep with having your drive using Multiword DMA 2.
if it was using pio transfers then I'd be concerned!
