have a lite-on 40125s and just tried it out for the 1st time, copied a 686mb cd and it took 4:55 sec, is this the normal write time or do i need to tweak some settings. P3 1gig,512mb memory, asus 52x cdrom
Is DMA enabled on this CD-RW? How is is connected to the computer? It should preferably be connected as the master in the secondary IDE, and the source drive (DVD/CD-Rom) the slave.
I had a 32x liteon that would burn everything in 3.5 min.... it broke and newegg sent me a 40x burner, the same 40125s. This piece of crap takes 7 min to burn, whats up with that??? It is set as master on an IDE cable all by itself and it is this slow from all 5 harddrives.
What I don't understand is that it will burn for a second (light turns red) then pause for 2 seconds (light turns orange) then back to red and completes that way. Is my unit defective? All differnet cd burning software does this and I could not find any new updates for it - did I look in the wrong place maybe?
Forgot to mention that I own a Cendyne/LiteOn 40125S (firmware ZS0J).
As a test, I copied a 644 MB CD (not copy protected) to a 24X rated blank CD (Teon brand) at 40X. It took 3 minutes 5 seconds. Used a Pioneer DVD-115F (16X) as the source drive.
I'm assuming that Nero came with the CD-RW. After loading the program, go to Recorder amd choose recorder. It should show you the firmware revision.
Here a site for the firmwares, CD-R firmware . Read the instructions carefully!!! Just noticed that a new firmware came out - ZSOK, to match more media.
Wow SKORPI0, thanks for being helpful. I was reading some of the posts over at the forum, I think I will try the 48x upgrade .... maybe tomorrow I am so tired right now I barely know what I am doing. Thanks for the links and quick replies
