Yep, watch out for that 99 cent shipping charge from Newegg for FedEx 2-3 day service. ;)

I ordered 5 Liteons. With shipping, it came to just over 9 bux each.

That's about half of what I was paying previously.

Thanks OP :)

remarks are funny. so apparently they send out used, defective drives wrapped in newspaper and never get back to you about RMAs. i'd avoid this company like the plague.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think I could trust a company with my credit card who's website ends in ".cc"

Yeap !

Newegg rocks. I usually order from them in the am, and i receive my items the very next day on their standard shipping.

BTW: I just bought from Newegg a Liteon SOHD-167T for $31.00 and change delivered and with the 167T.9S16.patched-rs16xR_16xRW_10xDVD9 patched FW... its soooo much quieter then the 166s.

For an extra $10.00 get a better DVD-ROM and best of all its in the Retail box and from Newegg.. i would also stay away from that .cc seller.

I got my order today for 3 Lite-On XJ-HD166S DVD-ROMs ($6 each) and a NEC ND-2100A ($32). The DVD-ROM drives look like pulls (July 2003, Sept 2003, Jan 2004 dates) and the DVD burner looks new (June 2004). Now to mod the burner to a 2500A and maybe later to a 2510A...

I just received my order.
Originally, I had ordered (4) Lite-on units @ 5.00 each.
A few days after placing my order, I received an email offering a substitute.
I accepted and got (2) of the Phillips and (2) of the LG units.

I just finished hooking up the LG and installing PowerDVD 5.0.
So far, everything looks great and the drive is very quiet.

Thanks OP for the info.
