the lite on dvd is pretty loud and when it spins up fast it sort of vibrates. has anybody experienced this?

this is my first home built compiter. how do i bench test my system to see how it running?? Also are ther e any tweaks i can do to improve performance??

now that is one expensive computer. coulda made a better motherboard choice though and the case but looks good and no i dont have ne thing to say bout the lite-on dvd

i have another stick of ram but it would not work with 98 so i bought xp and have not put the other stick in yet. i wish that i would have gotton a bigger ps

I have had horrible experience with LiteOn DVD (not CDRW), if it makes a crunchy sound its bad. If its just a loud but turbine like whine its ok.

Sorry man, I know their CD-RW's rock, but haven't heard anything about their DVD drives. Maybe you should return it if you can and get a Toshiba or something that is known to be good.

And nourdmrolNMT1, do you have ANY idea what you are talking about? His case rox, and the board is a good board.....I have one myself and haven't had a lick of issues.

the 52x CD-rom does the same thing except for the vibrating part well maybe a lil bit but there is a hydro bearing or sumpin that is what makes the high pitched part!

Any other terms that sound like the "crunchy" drive? Mine makes some very weird noises and I would not be surprised if it was bad.

I just recieved the LTD 163.......it's very quiet and runs everything fine , without any "whine" or "crunchy" noises.

It could be your model, but just going by the one I have , it doesn't make that noise.

I replaced the CDROM drive by "Memorex".......now THAT was a loud drive. The Lite-on model I have is MUCH quieter.

I've put together 2 systems w/ it lately and I can also attest to it being a loud drive. Can't really complain about hte performance though...great drive and would definately recommend it.

I have a Pioneer 16x DVD, Toshiba 16x DVD, and two LiteOn 16x DVDs that I work with. The LiteOn drives are much quieter than the other ones.
