The question is... should I buy the Lite-On or the Hi-Val at CompUSSR? The Hi-Val appears to be a relabeled Optorite drive... which has HD-BURN.

Im not up to date on these things, so do you guys have any suggestions?

Anyone know how to tell which model is at OD? I stopped by today and they had one in a blue box, but no model number anywhere and no price, either. I asked someone who worked there and, of course, he didn't know his arse from a water cooler!!!

Forget Optorite. They are second-rate. I know. My Optorite burner died after a couple of months of working great. Stick with Plextor or Lite-On and you will thank me.

I am thinking I need to pick up the Lite-On DVD burner at BB on BF.

bug, it's the LDW-411S (4x 4x / 4x 2x + 40x 24x 40x). They only make one with those specs, so you can just compare with the box.

i just bought a black one of these (well the 401s... but it can be flashed) from newegg refurb. $71.


seems to work well. the cd burn is a LOT faster than my departing nd-1300a

Just read the ad for Price Club...they have the same Lite On burner in black or beige for $99.99 after $30 MIR and $20 off coupon.

i think wally world price matches everything....anyhow i have a question also, do OD employees get employee discount on top of the sale prices?

I just happen to know the customer service manager at one of the OD's....i want to know before I go hassling that person....i still can't believe the stuff that the employees can pull over there.....i bought HALF a package of something for $1.25 when the full package goes for $15. love their power....when it's on my side....
