Good burner, I've bought a few of them over the years (yes I still burn a fair number of DVDs). This has to be the first time I've seen a quality burner below ten bucks-maybe they are going to dump them altogether?

"EMCWHPF69" works on 36 cd / dvd burners (25% off to max of $250 off) per this morning's ad. OP has the best deal.

I remember ordering a Plextor 32x CD-RW for $199 (on sale), several years ago, ok maybe a decade ago?

Drive comes up as $12.99 + $4.99 shipping. Code knocks off $3.25 = $14.73 + tax delivered.
Did the price go up?

Often Newegg will put the shipping in as 3-day instead of their free Super Saver. They did that to me once I entered the code but just changed it back to free shipping

Good deal!

I still remember my old Ricoh 1420c. I paid a little over $300 for it (a 2X CD burner as I recall) back in 1997. Blank cds all came in individual jewel cases and cost a few dollars each. Since I never wanted to make a coaster, I only burned after a clean boot and after I turned off any service that might disrupt the burning process.

My first CD burner, a HP SCSI model in the '90s, cost $1000. Don't even ask about my first 5MB hard drive.

Im in for 2 so thanks OP. By the way My first DVD burner cost $550 and it was a Pioneer A101 X1 speed.I remember how I wanted one so bad and would have done anything to get one back then.I saved all summer that year.It was killing me cause back then they didnt even have them in the USA at that time and the only way to get one was to import them from japan for $1000-3000 a pop. Back then we didnt have ebay and newegg so I had to do what most others did and ordered one from a special dealer out of one of those PC mags.Back then those things were built to last and you could easily build a house out of the drives casing.;p

Sweet! Now I can replace the POS Optiarc in my HTPC... you know, the one that is trigger happy and tries to close on top of the disk at the slightest nudge.

If you wanna go WAY back, I remember dropping $250 on my CD Blaster kit (2X CD-ROM with a Sound Blaster 16 ISA card)

Then a few years later, I dropped like $200 on a 2X CD-R/8X CD-ROM that was such a piece of crap it didn't even do disc-at-once (just TAO) I think it was a Mitsumi.

I can't wait for physical formats to die :)

I bought a used 1X CD-R (external SCSI) drive off of a co-worker for, IIRC, several hundred dollars. I used to coaster every-other disc. Mostly, because I was using cheap CompUSA discs, that had their reflective top layer simply painted on. Scratch the top, scratch the reflective layer off. Or maybe it would just flake off after a while. At least, they had a warranty on those discs, so when I would collect a spindle full of coasters, I would bring it back, and they would give me a replacement. $30-50 worth, wow.

(Remember Princo discs?)

Eventually, I bought a Yamaha internal 6X CD-R/CD-RW (again, SCSI) drive, refurb, for like $220 or so I think it was. Great drive. Would do everything, DAO, TAO, CD+G, etc.

I remember Princo discs. I also remember throwing out most of my spindle unused. The few I got burned the surface would flake off off time. I while ago I was cleaning up and ran across a box of CDs. Every one that was Princo was unreadable.

Thanks, was looking for a few of these and just picked up five for 48 bucks and change. Lite ons have never failed me yet.
