Lite-On cdrw problem.

My practically new lite-on drive will not read any discs. I put in an audios disc and a data disc and the green lite flashes and it just opens the tray back up. I have used it before to burn some discs and it has been fine.
Recently I did have another problem with it though. It would not show up in My Computer. I just shutdon, unhooked everything then rehooked it and all was fine.
If this thing keeps it up I gonna throw it out the window.

BTW both discs that I tried were originals and they worked fine in my pioneer dvd drive.

Seems a serious hardware problem. Or maybe a conflict. Is it slave of your primary HD?

It's master on second IDE all by itself.
I did just install an audigy sound card but can't really see how that could be the problem.
It shows up OK in device manager. What else can I check?

Same thing happened to me. I'm RMAing mine back to Newegg tomorrow. This is a common problem with the first release of their 24x writers. Visit their web site's forum for any possible solutions. Link...Service & Support...Discussion.

Sorry to hear you have a problem with yours. I have the exact same drive and got it last week, works fine. A friend of mine got the 40x version and he's is ok too. Good drive! Hope the one you get back works fine. 🙂

i still am not sure what the heck is up with these drives, i have installed 3 of them, gotten all 3 of them to work (in the past 6 weeks) but they have all given quite a bit of trouble from the start. like i said they end up working if you play with them enough but i dont think i will be buying any more in the future due to this.
