Lite-On CD-RW24x Question

I picked up the Lite-On 24x CD-RW a few months ago, and have been using it fine in my XP system. Recently, I reformatted, and know I get this error message in Device Manager:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

Does anyone know where I can download an updated Lite-On Driver? Lite-On's site doesn't seem to have a section for their burners yet, and I can't find the discs that came with the burner from newegg.com.
 
www.liteonit.com has drivers & firmware upgrades for their drives. If you went to the liteon.com site (or something like that) and only saw info on Monitors, you were at the wrong ite. (Made that mistake a month or so ago)

HOWEVER, since you indicate that you are using XP, you should be using the default driver supplied by Windows. (True for all win 9x OS's & later) My recommendation is that you not try ot upgrade the driver, but actually REMOVE the device from device manager, then reboot. That should cause XP to find the device again and load the appropriate driver.

Well, tried what you said, and for some reason, same thing keeps on popping up repeatedly. Would it be possible for anyone using a Lite-On 24x Burner to send me the files that Windows uses for the device?
 
Remove the device from the system in teh device manager...

Right click on my computer.
Select properties.
Select the hardware tab.
Click device manager.
Under DVD/CD-Rom driver click the +
Remove the reference to your CD-RW.
Click ok until you exit the device manager.

Reboot.

If the problem persists...
Try removing all DVD/CD-Rom devices the same way (i.e. when you click the + under DVD/CD-Rom, remove anything you find there). Then reboot.

If that doesn't work, you could always try and remove the DVD-CD-Rom devices first then the Primary and Secondary IDE channels (Under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers), the same way as above, and then reboot. They will just be rediscovered upon reboot, as will what ever is connected to them.

If trouble still remains:
Maybe remove the drive from the device manager and then turn off your machine. Then remove the drive or disconnect the IDE cable from the CD-RW and boot again. Double check all CD-RW software has been removed, if there is anything left remove it and reboot. After a successful boot without the CD-RW attached and all related software removed, turn off the machine. Plug the drive back in and turn the machine back on. It should redetect the driver then and if necessary request software. NOTE: You have to remove the device from the device manager prior to turning you machine off and unplugging it.

Or if nothing else works, reload XP.
