Lite On CD-RW 48X12X48 Trouble

I have the burner as listed in the title... and I just got a new one from the company (thank you RMA..). Well I plugeed in the ide cable and power cable but when I turned my computer on it came up with the screen saying that something new is installed and asked me to pick the mode to start XP in. I did normal mode, and it sat at the XP loading screen with the blue bar going and going but never loading XP. Anyone ever had this problem? Better yet.... what do I do?! Thanks

If the drive is the lone device on your secondary IDE cable, then set it to master. If it's the second device on your primary IDE cable, set it to slave. Usually, rule of thumb is to put all your hard drives on the primary IDE cable, and all your optical drives on the secondary IDE.

If safe mode doesn't work for you, unplug the drive and see if you can boot up without any complications. If you can, create a System Restore point in Windows XP. Then connect the Liteon again and test.

There shouldn't be problems swapping out the exact same drive, but perhaps Windows XP got hosed somehow.

Thanks a lot.. I put it to SLAVE and it loaded! Now let's hope this one will burn CD's.. because my last one keep freezing!
