lite-on blu-ray

LITE-ON Black 4X BD-ROM 12X DVD-ROM 32X CD-ROM SATA Internal 4X Blu-Ray DVD Drive Model DH-4O1S-58 - Retail

is in an email promo that i didn't get in email... seems to be a bit cheaper than elsewhere... reviews are a bit shaky...

It seems most of the reviews are user error as most are and there's only 12 reviews. Don't let 12 Newegg reviews turn you away.

user has to connect two cables, i don't see how possibly can be user error

i must suck as user too because LITE-ON stuff i bought would routinely die.

Actually some of the bad reviews are saying that you have to be running Vista to watch Blu-Ray movies, and that is not true, so yes there were some STUPID users. I have not had any problems with LITE-ON stuff, and have a CD burner that is at least 7 years old, from when they first started being sold as a retail drive and has likely burned around a thousand disks.

Agreed. If I see one more "my 1TB (or any size) hard drive doesn't show all of the 1TB" comments I am going to stab them in the ear.

It's even better that a lot of those people list their Tech Level as 'High'. At this point I put more credence behind the users who mark themselves as 'Somewhat High' than the ones who list themselves as 'High'.

Blu Ray technologies look like too much hitec for an ordinary consumer like me. So just wait and wait until the comlexiti will be turned down with prices.

I'm avoiding the BR hardware altogether so far. I bought a 4830 with HDMI out to my Sony 52". I can grab the BR version of most movies off of Usenet and play the digital file from my computer right to the HDTV w/o the need for a BR player or burner or blanks.

Kinda sweet....
