OfficeMax has Cendyne 48x 12x 48x for $29.99. I'm just came from OM and I was suprised. This is 48x24x48x, model# 48246S, easy way to flash it to 52x 24x 52x. Just check back of the box for model #.

Sidenote, I read in another thread that some OMs had the 48125W out front but if you asked they might have the 48246S in back. Obviously YMMV
 
Are all Cendyne's Lite-Ons. Also is it only the "S" that's flashable and not the "W".

What do you guys think of this deal vs. the Black Fiday Best Buy deal for:

i got the same deal on a 40X about 3 months ago and i'm still waiting for the rebate. the website has said it would be sent out in the next 30 days for 2 months.cendyne rebates suck.

Not all Cendyne's are Lite-On. I have three, one is Verbartim, the other is Acer (now BenQ), then Lite-On. Verbatim is always good, BenQ certainly improves A LOT -- I don't really see anyone has to get Lite-On. By the way, all of mine can read the infamous proteceted music CD, go figure.

I have a CenDyne 40x12x48 drive that is a Verbatim made by Lite-On. Flashed it to 48x12x48 Lite-On. 🙂

Does anyone know if any NYC Office Max has them. I went to the one in Westbury and Hempstead, both only have the 48125W

Also, doesnt the 48246S coding mean that it's 24X rewrite? Therefore being different than the one in the ad.

If you don't mind the drive, I got mine in CT, and its the 48246S. And yes, it is 24X rewrite, so its actually better than advertised.
 
I picked up one of these Cendyne drives on the way home from work today. I used a $10 gift card I got in the mail to drop the price to $50. When they brought it out I was confused because on the back of the box in the Drive Model area it simply said 48x12x50 instead of a letter/number combination. So I brought it home and did some research. Turns out that boxes marked with 48x12x50 are AOpen CRW4850 drives, not Lite-On.

So I called back to the store and they said that was all they had in stock. Luckily for me the other OfficeMax in my area checked and had one LTR-48246S in stock and exchanged it for my 48x12x50.
 
I picked up the LTR-48246S (48x24x48 - Lite On) model today, I asked the CSR to look for that model. Used $10 off $50 from mailing, total comes out to $54.XX before $30 mail in rebate.
 
i ordered online only get a 48125W , at least its a lite-on,
order at morning use 20 off 100 when its 89.99 (and some FAR stuff), and call in to adjust the price at night. The 20 still there, i get it 9.99. 🙂

Looks like I need to head south. I just hit the stores in Gurnee, Vernon Hills and Deerfield and none of them have the 48246S. I did see a strange drive though in several stores. Under the drive number it said 48x12x50. What drive is that?

BTW gogovs.. How many 48246S drives were at the Harwood Heights store?
