Saw this from Newegg . Hope this is not a repost, as I saw it as 8x few days ago.

Edit: By the way, this is a full OEM, Retail is $70, and 48x is $100.

You can update the firmware to the 48X and burn at 48X.

So overclock your Athlon AND your cd Burner.

So will the 48x can be upgradable to 52x or something? What' the limiting speed of CDRW drives? 48x? Since I think I will wait till the highest speed comes out and get one.

Is there such a rule that I should get a 2 times faster CDROM to work with a CDRW drive if I wanna do on the fly burnning?

Going from the 40X to a overBurnt 48X is just a trick, like overclocking your CPU, but just making the software push the burner. That and difference between the 40X and 48X is almost unnoticably. So unless you are running a 12X or slower a upgrade will see little results.
That and you need 40X CDR's to burn 40X or faster. That is why I run a 32X burner, I can run all those free CDR's I want.

I have a 32x Lite-On... I absolutely love it. Someone remind me how stupid I would be to buy this just to save like 10 seconds a burn... please? :p

Man, I bet the girl would love my old 32x, though...
