Worked for me. $80.55 with next day shipping. This is OEM I assume? I really hate the way they print their URL on the front of the retail drives. Or is it just a sticker?

Edit: dajo was your retail drive from Dell?

Strych9--I received my drive this morning, and have it right here next to me now. It is a full retail version box (glossy reddish printed box) with a Nero CD, an audio cable, a 4-12x CD-RW, and a "Professional Multi-Speed Lite-On" 80 min CD-R.

You also asked about the URL printed on the front--on my drive here it is a transparent plastic sticker, so it looks like you could peel it off easily.

<< I tried adding various cdr's including the one mentioned in the first post and it won't apply either of the coupons to the order. total $100.61 + $5.03 tax = $105.64
anyone have any suggestions?
>>

What kind of message is it giving you? There's an old %10 coupon and a new one. Make sure you are using the new one. The thing you add to get to $100 doesn't matter.

I just ordered this morning and got it for $80.xx free next day shipping so I know it works.

do a google search for "dell %10 coupon" and hit some of those coupon sites. Look at the "expires" date until you find the current one.

blatently ripped from techbargains:

Plextor 40x CD-Writer - TDK Velo 40x, Apr 19
Dell Home Software & Peripherals has the black colored Plextor 40x12x40 CD-Writer for only $160.12 - 10% coupon - $10 coupon = $134.86 shipped free, no tax in most areas.

Dell also has the TDK VeloCD 40x12x48 for $138.95 - 10% - $10 = $115 shipped.

just in case the lite-on doesnt float your boat

Yes, full retail in the Lite-On 40x box. I think you can expect the same since it took a while for my first one to get here and this is most likely the same stock. Only difference is the price.

The 0.05 screw did not work for me. Probably because it was a Dell part.

This is such an awesome deal for so many reasons - free next day shipping, the coupons which bring it to $80.55, and, evidently, no limit. I've already ordered two, and at this price, I might upgrade all four of my home networks machines.

This is one of the hottest deals on right now.

Here's my experience.

When I used my existing Dell acount, the $10.00 off on $100.00 wouldn't work, also the only free shipping was three to five business days.

So I logged on to Dell from a different computer so it wouldn't recognize me. Added a 66 cent Imation CDR. Both coupons then worked. I clicked checkout and created a new account with a different email address. Next business day shipping now showed as being free, so I selected it.

It seems that if you create a new account you get next day shipping free.
Also it made both coupons work.

i finally caved in and picked this up
i live in texas, working in tennessee, both have dell plants. so instead, shipped it to my gf who is in boston :)

i had a previous account, so it wouldnt let me do overnight shipping. it did accept the coupons and free normal shipping. hopefully they can still get it out by next week so i can pick it up from my gf when i visit :)

Creating a new acct. won't enable next day shipping for free. I just tried it. And I was able to get both coupons working without creating another acct.

I placed my order on 4/12 for $88.06 and my order has not shipped. Contrary to other people who still got theirs when it shows it won't ship till 5/1...mine really didn't ship out. Why did people who order the drive after 4/12 get it before me?

I'm guessing Dell plays some sort of lottery game with their orders. It screws people like me over. Oh well I guess I have to wait till 5/1 to ship out.

dang it, got the media today :( but no drive. Oh, but it is coming, it is coming. Worth a little wait at a price like that. To think I was going to pay newegg 140 bucks for the plextor.

Yeah - I've always called it the Dell lottery...once in a while you win, but usually it's a losing proposition...never knowing what's really going on with your order, having to wait on hold forever and getting transferred from department to department, etc...and even when you win you lose - they just billed me for the 3rd drive that they set up a refusal on, so now I have to wait for a credit.

I think that when you create a new account in order to get the overnight shipping free, you have to go to a different computer because the cookie is stored in your computer. When you go to dell.com on the same computer, they already know who you are as soon as you go on their site and even though you create a new account you don't get the overnight shipping.

I tried this several times with the same result. In our office, I just went to a different workstation to create the new account with a different email address. Got the free overnight shipping.

My email confirm has $0.00 charge for overnight shipping. Of course if they are out of stock it doesn't do much good.

I'm a frequent Dell customer and I didn't need to create a new account or flush my cookies. Free overnight shipping showed up in my cart.

That must be it then, being a repeat customer that is, and it has nothing to do with creating a second account. I ordered the 40x Lite-On burner and a few hours later when I decided to use the same account to purchase the Lite-On 16x DVD-Rom as well, I was presented with the option of free next day shipping.:)

This is off topic, but hey I'm sleep deprived. I ordered (backordered really) a Maxtor 60 g D740X Ultra ATA/133 (#6L060J3) from Dell using the same $10/10% off codes (came to <$90, shipped). The "J" at the end in the Maxtor part number is supposed to mean it has the standard bearings, whereas an "L" would be the newer/cooler/quieter Fluid Dynamic Bearings. The product description on the Dell site implies it has the latter. Anybody get the 60G or 80G drives and know which version Dell is shipping ?
