Lite-On 1673S or Samsung TS-H552B DVD burner?

which one is better overall? being fairly silent while writing is a big plus for me

The Lite-On drives tend to be quiet while writing. They do tend to make alot of noise while opening/closing, but that pain only lasts a moment. Asus makes drives that are specifically made to be silent as well. I have used one and it works really well.

I've been looking as well. If you are open on your budget, I would definitly look at a Plextor. If you are on a budget, look at the Asus.
