hello,

i wanted to test out the new burner so i made a music cd.

basically, i burned 72 minutes of musci(724mb) in 12 min 40 sec.

is this normal? for some reason, i feel like my old TDK 8/4/32 was faster

DMA-mode is enabled for the burner ?
otherwise you'll do the whole job in PIO-mode, which would perhaps explain the problem ;)

are both drives, the dvd and the burner, hooked to the same IDE-channel ?
what happens if you only hook up the burner ?
which recording software do you use ?
tried an UDMA-66/100-cable ? may sound silly, but it's worth a try.

Try doing a straight data burn and see if the time is more on the 16X mark. If you are burning mp3 to cda, then the decode process is extending your burning time.
