I checked quick and I don't think anyone has posted this.

Yeah, yeah. Refurbs suck. But damn, $80 shipped for a 12x CDRW is the cheapest anyone will find right now without coupons/PMing etc.

EDIT: SEE NEXT POST FOR LINK

here's the description, straight from their site:

*** Refurbished *** Lite-On 12x10x32 CD-RW Rewriter, OEM Version 12x record, 10x rewrite, 32x read, includes Adaptec EZ CD-Creator v.4.02 Software - Click Here for Blank Media - ONLY 30 Day Warranty!! Free Fedex Saver Shipping

Staples had the rebadged Lite-on 12x10x32 by Pacific Digital last week for $35 after coupon and MIR from Staples. Now $80 for the refurb Lite-On is surely a freezing cold deal.

This is a good deal, I got my TDK12x for $150 a month or two ago, and that was with coupons, rebates, etc...

Dam.

I was @ BestBuy tonight. Had a 20x10xwhateverburn.

Twenty X. 20X. 20X. Burner...... Can't be.

Can anyone say "Ludicrous speed from Space Balls?"

"Exxon announced today the speed pass burner. Attaches to your keyring and you just wave it
over a blank CD."

yeah its a cold deal... OH WAIT, THAT OTHER DEAL WAS LAST WEEK AND DOESN'T EXIST ANYMORE!

Unless you invent me a time machine (please do, if you can, btw!) to go back and get that rebadged drive for $35 again, this is the HOTTEST CURRENT DEAL on a 12x Lite-On CD-RW.

this drive usually goes for ~$100 shipped and its competitors feature-wise (Plextor/Yamaha) go for more.

Looks like CDRW prices are going to get as crazy as RAM did. My 99.00 Buy.com DOD Creative (Lite-On) 12/10/32 will probably be $10.00 next week. I must say I love this drive, and the NTI CD-Burner software that came with it. If I never see EZ-CD again I will be a happy boy.

Yeah... the only downside is that today it's impossible to sell the 2x burner I'm stuck with now... I just gave it to my family... they don't care about the PC being tied up for almost 40 minutes...

You were lucky SHY, I bought an OPEN BOX (Worse than Refurb) Smart and Friendly (Oxymoron) 2x drive two years ago from Best Buy. Worst POS thing I ever stuck in my computer. The CDRW was a doorstop until two weeks ago. For some reason, I did a net search and found this page:

And was amazed at the amount of info on an older, 2X drive.

I followed all of the instructions, and damn, I recovered a drive that didn't work right from the factory. Stuck it in my GF's computer and it works well.

Caveat Emptor on all purchases, especially Refurbs and Open Box. I bought a parallel Zip 100 and it was an excellent drive, plus I sold it for damn near what I paid for it not 6 months later.

I would pay an extra 20 bucks to have a retail version of the Lite-On, especially if it came with NTI software. My 0.02

Ordered a Reburb GF2 GTS 64MB card from NewEgg great stuff works great, and in great condition. Also I have this burner (not refurb, but ordered it from Newegg) and its a very nice burnner and I like it a lot. I think it's the cheapest Burn Proof you can get.
