Bigdude burnproof, aka idiotproof, is just that... something made for the fools out there that don't have a clue how to properly burn cd's. Most people out there don't know that they have to put devices they are burning to and from on seperate channels, ex if you are making a copy off the cd-rom you need to have the cd-rom on a seperate ide channel then the burner or your going to get buffer underrun errors. Also what I found funny is people like o try to use more then half thier physical memory doing other things while they are burning. or set up the swappable cache from the HD to the wrong size. I have a friend that purchased one of these drives and some great 12x media to burn at 12x... and what does he do? plays video games while burning the cd.. which with the BP slows evrything down to a screeching halt and he's lucky to burn at 4x speed because of all the corrections being made. Anyhow that's my two cents. Burnproof isn't needed like putting a V8 small block on the back of a old VW bug just to drive to work isn't needed. Just fun to show off.
