Oh noes we must now ban the Listerine because minors can buy them and get drunk and drive and soon before you know it there will be no more teens in this world.

Freeze it....The alcohol will stay in the middle due to having a lower freezing point. Then extract the alcohol, and well....enjoy!

There was another thread about this, in January... I posted this, then:

Well, the quickest way I know alcoholics use in order to be able to drink denatured alcohol is to filter it through bread... take an entire bread (not sliced) and use it as a filter (there are some chemical reactions, don't ask)... So I bet someone really desperate could follow the same idea with Listerine.

Also, I know that in Eastern Europe - where the draft was still on, during Communism, and alcohol was hard to come by in the barracks - conscripts used to pour a couple of toothpaste tubes in a bucket of water, add sugar, mix it a bit, let it ferment for a while and drink the damn concoction....

In 1997 I was in the Danube Delta with a delegation of scientists and politicians, and I remember vividly this Russian guy working on the ambulance ship: he drank 90-degrees proof medicinal alcohol directly from the bottle... it was amazing to see him tilting his head backwards and the level of the blue liquid in the bottle diminishing rapidly.

I guess people will always find ways to get intoxicated with all kind of crap.

When hardcore alkies get shut down everywhere in town (by doctors or family members) they oftentimes resort to dollar store mouthwash.
There's a few other tricks, too.

Um doesn't denatured alcohol contain some methanol? You'll probably either go blind or get very sick/poisoned if you drink too much.

Ah yes...Listerine! I've not had a drink in 22 years, but yes, I'd gulp that crap down if nothing else was available (i.e, especially when the liquor stores were closed but the nearby supermarket was open). It does get your head spinning fast, but it's a feeling more unpleasant than regular alcohol and really does a number on you the day after--believe me. I remember in an AA meeting many years ago, revealing that amongst other things, I drank Listerine. It was amusing to me how many other members qualified their own drinking problems by saying "Oh crap! UGH! At LEAST I never did that!" Yanno? I was rather surprised to find Stephen King was doing the same thing, but then again, like myself, he discovered something he could keep available and not fall under too much suspicion of friends and family if they found it in the medicine cabinet.

I've heard that alcoholics on the medicine that makes you sick from alcohol have to use alcohol-free mouthwash for this reason. Tartar control varieties probably have dangerous levels of flouride.

One post about a listerine thread nine years old. Ok, this place can get weirder.
