I was just on my phone with a friend and possibly heard some really important stuff. Unfortunatley, the phone call was so quick that I wasn't able to listen to clearly, so I only *think* I heard the important stuff.

Don't phone companies record all phone calls for their own purposes(like if you made a long distance call and wouldn't admit it, they would have proof with the recorded conversation)? Is there a way to listen back to an old phone conversation??

I really need to if I can.

Can I call my cell phone company(Cingular) or someone and ask for it?

FBI hotline:

1-800-CARNIVORE

Seriuosly, though, that would probably require way too much resources and storage space, tape or digital.

No, phone calls are not recorded. (unless you are being monitored, which is very rare)

Phone switches will retain the details of your last call, but not the contents.

If they were you can be sure Echelon has recorded the phone call and it's being passed to the appropriate people now

Sorry, when I said details, I meant billing information such as the duration of the call and the originating number and destination number.

Phone switches are the pieces of equipment that give you your dial tone and process the particulars of the call you are making.

Wanna hear what deviants you neighbors are? Buy a regular scanner and set the freqs to listen in on cordless phone frequencies.

Much more fun, and you get to see just how many of your neighbors are into illegal fun...

My phone has the ability to record conversations with the press of a few buttons, pretty cool if you ask me :)

What? Didn't you watch Enemy of the State? That was real man! Just like Bowling for Columbine!

There really is an underground facility covering like 27 sq. acres in Virginia, or North Carolina, or where ever it is. And they have like 40 Exabytes of storage space, and at least four Pentium IV computers, but you know, not the Pentium IV you and I can buy. Its a super-secret high powered Pentium IV model that runs dual Quad-pumped Gigabus cache...or something.

Every letter of every written or spoken or typed word is recorded there and then they pay like the combined populations of India and China to review and analyze it all.

I'm seeerious!

What is funny is that people give out their credit card numbers/ss numbers/bank accounts/etc over cordless phones. At least get a digital spread spectrum phone and make it a little harder for people to get your info.

What is at 5.8GHz?
This is.

Good luck listening to that. It has DSS. While not impossible, I believe only the govt can do it at this time.

wow, I?m surprised by this kind of question As everyone else said your phone calls from your home are not listened to or recorder unless fbi or a local police department got a court permission to do so or if you are using public pay phones. If you are using public pay phones the calls can be monitored and/ or recorder without having to get any court permission.
