My college roommate's band Perfect Red is starting to make some noise here in Chicago. I want some opinions on the band.

They have four songs off of their new album on their site that you can listen to.

Wow, the singer has some pipes. Good pro sounding voice. Sounds like Sebastian Back from Skid Row back in the day.
Overall pretty good, though the dropped down angry metal usually isn't my thing.
One thing I noticed was no guitar solos.

Are they signed?

I thought that Tim sounded a bit like Lane Staley to me. I would call them more of a alternative metal, but that's just my opinion. It's probably because I know that they all have pretty much an alternative rock background. They opened for Disturbed this past summer at the House of Blues here in Chicago. No, they aren't signed yet.

Heh.. I see that you have Depeche Mode in your sig. I remember going to see Depeche Mode with Tony (drummer of Perfect Red) for the Violator tour.

Yeah I guess it is more alternative rock. I didnt know what to call it. Kind of different. But that's a good thing. Maybe a little like Velvet Revolver without Slash's riffs & solos. Surprised they don't have a deal after opening for Disturbed. Maybe they should hook up with Billy Corgan. Or move here to Nashville. :)

Yeah I'm a big DM fan, among others. They never play here though.

I'm surprised that they're not signed either after that kind of exposure. The music industry is weird though to say the least.

 I was dating a woman that was a WEA rep back in the late 80's and she would get us awesome tickets to events. We got incredible front row seats for DM for the Music For The Masses tour. I kind of regretted it though because David Gahan would constantly do his dance spins, especially during Behind The Wheel and fling sweat all over us. :disgust: I admire the guy, but I'm not really into having some guys sweat all over me.

Damn you're lucky. I would have put up with the sweat for those seats and that tour.

Here is an unsigned band with some potential (listen to "run" in particular))-

Best of luck to them though. :)

They sound pretty good NL5, I like the lead singers voice.

As for the OP, the guy sorta has a lane staley twang in his voice sometimes. I'm not much for that style of music, but it's not bad.

Shameful plug
