Apocalypse Now
Full Metal Jacket
Gallipoli
Das Boot
Stalingrad

Man, there are a lot of kiddies posting nothing but recent movies here... And to the Star Wars fan boys, all I have to say is

I suggest going old school and checking out:

Bridge Over The River Kwai
Paths of Glory
Cross of Iron
The Great Escape
Tora Tora Tora
Run Silent, Run Deep
Dr. Strangelove
Patton
Lawrence of Arabia

You'll soon change your tune.

And to the person saying All Quiet On The Western Front sucked you probably saw the version with John Boy from the Waltons. Check out the original (1930).

Not in any particular order:

The Winter War (finnish movie)
U-96 (AKA Das Boot)
Saving Private Ryan
Apocalypse Now (Redux)
The Unknown Soldier (the old B&W version. Also a finnish movie)
Full Metal Jacket
Zulu!

Maybe Cross of Iron, but I can't be sure since it's been a long time since I saw it (so I'm not sure that does it suck or not).

Bingo! The original version is so much better. Really captures the mood of the book.

1. Braveheart
2. Saving Private Ryan
3. Full Metal Jacket
4. Enemy at the Gates
5. Where Eagles Dare (older Clint Eastwood flick and the inspiration for Iron Maiden's song of the same name)

Honorable mention, though not a serious war flick:

Starship Troopers - Got to love the idea of Denise Richards putting her life on the line for her planet.

3) Midway
4) Bridge on the River Kwai
5) The Longest Day

Obviously I'm partial to WWII movies. And even though I loved it, I personally don't consider Schindler's List a true war film. It's sort of like the Best Years of our Lives, a fantastic film set during war time covering things directly related to the war, but not about the actual combat or participants at the time of battle. If you start adding those types, the list to choose from gets huge. In fact, Holocaust movies by themselves are a huge genre.
