Interesting you're the second person I see that uses 7-Zip rather than WinRAR, I wonder why, WinRar's GUI is far easier to use and it is faster in decompressing large files.

the forum rules wont allow me ta upload attachments

No one uploads attachments. We link to them, The easiest sites for AT linking are pics.bbzzdd.com, photobucket, and imageshack. The URL to the image is then en closed between bracket-img bracket and bracket-slash img bracket.

7Zip is libre software, so it's yours to use as you see fit. Using WinRAR past the shareware period is against their terms, and you're restricted with your use of it. I could sell 7Zip if I could find a buyer.

It's FOSS, so that's one plus. And in my experience it works better and faster than WinRAR. But the biggest reason is because I absolutely despise the dialog that WinRAR pops up whenever I use it telling me that it's evaluation software only and that I should buy it.

Oh I'm using the PAID version that's why I'm not bothered with that annoyance

Because paid software always has a better UI and/or functionality in my experience
Actually, in many areas FOSS software is much better, both in terms of GUI (which is subjective, admittedly) and functionality (which should be a lot more objective). For example, Handbrake is much better than all those proprietary media transcoders out there, who have those crappy GUIs (subjective), have fewer options and capabilities (objective). Besides, most of them still use .avi, which is IMO almost obsolete.

Don't get me wrong, there are lots of areas where paid software is better than free (though it depends on the usage scenario), but in most cases there is at least one very competitive open source (or at least free) alternative, and in my opinion, paying money for such a trivial task* is ludicrous.

*By trivial I'm not trying to demean the tast of archive en/decryption, I just mean that it forms a small part of most users' experience, even though it usually plays an indispensible role.

Yeah, I used to think that paid stuff was better. Then I realized if it works, it works.

You're right, it may work and do the job, but with Paid you usually get quicker support and better features (sometimes)

Example, FlashFXP pwns FileZilla in terms of ease of use, connection stability, and features when trying to access your FTP server

Another example, Ashampoo Burning Studio 11 beats everything i've seen when it comes to GUI and ease of burning any CD/DVD/BlueRay disc you want

Another Example, nothing compares to Kaspersky Internet Security or Eset Smart Security when it comes to Antivirus suites, yes MSE and Avira are there, but they have some false positives, do not update as frequently as the paid ones do, Comodo Internet Security FREE is a good alternative but it is a resource hog, trying running a scan, your computer would be useless in terms of speed hit you get
