I loved Song of Ice and Fire when I read it, but its been years and I don't know if I'll like it if I reread it.

The last book to leave an incredible impression on me was War and Peace. Not an easy read (length-wise, content is fine), but damn it was worth it.

Books on my list to read (thanks in part to ATOT's recommendations):

The Dark Tower (got the book a few weeks ago, will start just as soon as I finish my current book)
A Game of Thrones (hopefully, will get it for Christmas)
The Stand (picked up the hardcopy of it Saturday for $5)

Dune by Frank Herbert followed closely by a Game of Thrones by Martin.

 both good novels that I was considering stating, but it was the Dark Tower that really got me into reading.

 The Stand was great, I bet you'll like it.

This thread kicks ass... there is a used bookstore right across the street from our building and I'm going to look for a few of these books as well!!

I hope so...just based on the summaries I've read, I think I will. What's the difference between the uncut and normal versions, though?

He originally wrote the uncut edition, and his editors made him take out a few hundred pages because it was too long. Then he got big enough that he could publish what ever he wanted and put them back in. Definitely go with the uncut.
