For me I tend to use flathub (through Discover in KDE) for these rather than the operating system versions since those require rebooting everytime you update them:

Steam
Protonplus
Protonup-qt
Protontricks
PortProton
Lutris
Chromium
Chrome
Firefox
Discord
Warehouse
Surfshark
Calculator
Haruna
VLC
Wine
Flatseal
Ktorrent
LACT
Whatsie / Zapzap
Localsend
GNU image manipulation program
Disks
Firewall
Gnome System Monitor
Hardinfo2
PhotoQT
Onboard (virtual keyboard)
Mousam (weather)

For my widgets its:

Resources Monitor
Thermal Monitor
Netspeed widget
Weather Report

Please mention your list especially if you find a really good program.

Most of my stuff's pretty obvious. I'll list a couple some might be interested in.

galculator - an rpn calculator
deadbeef - a music player similar to foobar2000. I download from sourceforge, and run it from a folder in /home
goodvibes - a simple online radio player. There's a million ways to do this, but I like the compact and simple interface

Only Office is one of the best free MS Office alternatives, much better imo than the popular Libreoffice.

Resources is an alternative to system monitor that shows per core CPU usage, clock speeds and temps, as well as GPU usage and temps. really surprised most DE sys monitors still dont show these things.

Video Downloader is a nice simple gui for yt-dlp that downloads audio or video from many popular sites like youtube and twitch.

SMPlayer is a comprehensive gui for mpv and the closest linux media player I've found to the great MPC-HC on windows

Virt Manager is a simple gui for KVM/QEMU vms.

Chromium
Chrome
Firefox
Do you have specific uses for each of these browsers?

Yes I use firefox for unsure searches on duck duck go where I'm not sure about web safety. (VPN always on)

I use chromium for looking up gaming/ talking on this forum since AT says my IP is banned everytime I try to connect here with a VPN. :p

And I use chrome for shopping or financial sites like walmart/ amazon/ newegg/ banks/ paying off credit cards etc that don't play nice on other browsers.

All 3 have different email accounts as well so one cracked password doesn't give the attacker everything.

From Firefox I've moved on to
LibreWolf and since I'm getting more paranoid about security I put it in a
BubbleJail which limits where it can read or write files. I do the same for
Tor Browser.

I thought @WelshBloke might like this since he likes mint but he likes GNOME a lot better than Cinnamon.

I'm sticking with the distro I have! Everything is working, nothing is annoying me too much. I'm not fiddling with anything now!

My program list is the usual I guess. Steam, VMware, Spotify, Firefox, Conky and Conky manager2, gnome extension manager, Flatseal, Guvcview (as the camera app doesn't work with my webcam), LACT and a CPU driver script (to undervolt my GPU and CPU respectively), Openrazer and polychromatic. NordVPN app, Qbittorrent, Probably some other stuff with weird names!

I hear you..

I couldn't resist the itch and upgrade kernel last night.. but things seem to be running smoothly.

Now upto 6.16.3-200 from 6.15.9.201

Qbittorrent was the program that caused me problems and apparently I'm not the only one.

I went to Ktorrent and Transmission and they both work fine. I originally thought it was surfshark but nope.. Qbit is the problem.

You can fix it but it requires some heavy tinkering.

Also I'm afraid to mess with LACT again.. because when my last install broke.. I had installed LACT on that day.. to try and undervolt the gpu but I ended up having tons of problems with low fps.

I uninstalled it but was still unable to fix it.. so I'm not clear on if it was LACT or having both nvidia and AMD drivers on it.

BTW I really like gnome system monitor more than TOP.. it feels like a better version of windows system manager.

Whats the issue with Qbitorrent? I get an issue using the search function sometimes but apparently that needs .net to fix it and I'm not installing that unless I have to!

I'm just using LACT to set some undvervolts that I know are stable and have run fine since I got the GPU awhile ago.

Mission control is nice as well if you want a system monitor that looks like a polished version of Windows Task manager!

My Mint install is about 3 yrs running with auto updates taking care of itself. No problems. I was recently surprised to see that my paltry 128gb disk had only 2 gb free space. I used this yatube vid to regain half my open disk space back.

I still use CoreCtrl for gpu tinkering, reminds me of AMD's Adrenalin app.

Have you tried 'Resources' ? I tried of bunch of these alternate monitoring app a while ago and liked it the best.

I just wish it showed CPU clocks/temps and GPU temp

CoreCtrl doesnt support my motherboard sensors correctly.

That looks a lot like Mission Center, its pretty nice! TBH I have Conky set up with most of the monitoring stuff I need.

qbit torrent on its default setting leaks your ip and you will get a copyright strike.

It's got a long complicated fix but Transmission/ KTorrent/ Deluge all work good.

If you're gonna say you haven't gotten a copyright strike.. it's because of luck imho because I did quite a bit of research on this and the easiest solution was using a different torrent program.

My other thread has the details but you can always use ipleak.net to confirm if your ip is leaking or not. Qbittorrent does leak sadly.
