Recuva lets you recover deleted files or programs. Pretty handy for impulse deleters.

VLC is a decent player to install on other people's systems, as I still hate getting phone calls over mundane issues like codecs.
Handbrake is the must-have converter, :hmm: besides I also love using WinX DVD Auhtor (http://www.winxdvd.com/dvd-author/) - a trusted freeware easily convert and burn some of my mkv mp4 etc video files.
As for compression, I prefer 7-zip than Winrar...

This is small and simple app to create, mount and unmount Ram Disks. I recently started running my browser sandboxed in a ram disk to prevent 'wear and tear' on my new SSD.
