This article is a couple of months old, but it's still a nice list of names of California politicians (in both parties) that should not be re-elected. They knew they were violating campaign contribution laws by participating in furndraisers and accepting gifts from a lobbyist registered to lobby them, and received nothing more than a warning and very little public awareness of their corrupt nature.

What would be more interesting: a list of California politicians that *aren't * corrupt. It'd be a very short list.

Infact, it would be a pretty short list if it was ALL politicians.

While I hate lobbiest as much as the next guy and I'm glad he was cought and fined, I'd like to think our polititains can't be bought for $50-$500.

This seems like an error rather than a scandal.

I doubt they were bought off, but I also doubt it was an error. Most likely it was seen as something akin to a speeding ticket. They knew the were going over the limit but didn't really care.

As for the lobbyist, the fine they paid was basically just the campaign contribution they weren't allowed to make.
