Liquor Forums

I am not looking for a shameless plug here...BUT

I just setup this new forum for people who enjoy alcohol. I think many of you would enjoy debating in the forums...Please visit them. They are in the initial stages of dev, so be gentle...

My Liquor Site

Now that the site is finally up, I am going to be looking for MODS and ADMINS...Please let me know if you are interested!

if you are trying to make it look like a mature discussion site get rid of the banner guy and use correct puncuation on the forum descriptions

if you are going for the refined look that is...

maybe you should stick to a few sub forums from the start. then gradually seperate them as more threads come up.

Forums like these have %15 success rate. And yes took that statistic out of my ass.

I don't like how the forums are set up. There just needs to be ONE forum for each type of liquor. You have like 3 Tequila and 5 vodkas listed. I generally only drink tequila or vodka..and you dont have any of the brands I drink! You are limiting yourself to only those who drink those brands.

Yeah good point...
So what I gather from the response is:

People are gullible...
The guy in the banner has to leave...
Say NO to background music (especiialy country)....
Look for redefined style instead of frat boy appeal...

Is that it in a nutshell...

That's a pretty cool idea. My friends and I usually hit webtender when we want to experiment, but a lot of times we end up making some nasty stuff and wasting money trying out the recipes. A forum would definitely be sweet. Methinks I'll be signing up for this.

Speaking as a not so typical forum going person (part of my job is going to hundreds upon thousands of different forums...so I've seen what generally makes a forum successful or not)

I like the idea, but it needs some work. If I were you I'd add a general discussion section (similar to ATOT) compact the sections into smaller ones. Instead of having different countries etc listed, maybe list only by the type of beer or do domestic macro, domestic micro (regional perhaps) then export. Maybe compact liqour into one section then have whatever sub forums directly underneath. Maybe add something like Bar Talk where people talk about there favorite bars (could also be regional). Then if it takes off see where it goes and then start making the sub sections like how you have them now, if needed, that is.

Again this is all my 2 cents, for all I know the way you have it now could work perfectly, but generally when I see forums so split up like this its a spam haven or they just never take off.

Another little word of advice, if you want to attract real beer aficionados, Miller High Life isn't the best choice to have all over the front page. Then again I don't know what type of crowd you're going after with this.
