I saw on IGN.com and Gamespot.com that LIONHEART has gone Gold and there is a playable demo available.

It is supposed to be based on the Fallout engine. Anyone play the demo yet?

I wonder if it's as good as Fallout. I'll give the demo a try when I get home from work.

<church lady> Isn't that SPECIAL? </church lady>

Pun intended. But seriously, I'll have to either DL it or wait and see if it shows up on the next CGW CD.

Also, from Hot Deals, Target has Fallout 1 + 2 bundle on closeout for $4.99 (!). There is also an Interplay Triple Pack for $18 at GoGamer that includes BG 1, Fallout 2, and Planescape Torment with printed manials.

From the little I played it looks like it could be another high quality bioware RPG. Seems odd that you can't adjust the resolution, although that may be a demo only thing. I like how the magic system relies on mana instead of memorizing spells a la Baldur's Gate. Having to memorize spells just lead to constant resting anyway. The combat is solid and the mouse interface is nice. The cursor adjusts in size and shape depending on what it's hovering over. Works out nicely.

replace bioware with black isle, whoops.

yeah, bought the game last week, its pretty high quality. unfortunatly the resolution thing is not demo only. in fact, there are only like 4 options that you can change, total.

To me the game seems kind of like a union of Baldur's Gate and Diablo. I've never played Fallout, so I wouldn't really know if its like that. I've played about 20 hours so far though, and this game is definitely another great bioware rpg.

Except that Bioware had nothing to do with this game;)

Isnt it BlackIsle and Reflexive Studios? With most of the development coming from reflixive? Gamespot gave it a 6.5....I will still get the game soon but it sounds like we'll have to wait a little longer for the next 'GREAT" (2D) rpg:(

Downloading it now...thanks.

CrowDog, you are correct. It's not BioWare, Reflexive is developing the game with Black Isle "overseeing it".

Ahh..bring back the Infinity Engine. BioWare + Black Isle = RPG gods. Long live Baldur's Gate II.

Black Isle is finished, I think. :( Maybe they can redeem themselves with Fallout 3, but for now it seems their best work is definitely well in the past. I guess the defections of so many quality developers are finally beginning to take their toll.

To me Troika Games and Obsidian Entertainment are now the most promising RPG studios, since most key members of the Planescape and Fallout teams ended up there.

Did you actually play the game, or are you just saying that? Seems pretty fun to me.
Not the full game, just the demo (which was less than impressive, though of course I'll reserve judgment on the game itself until I try the full package). I'm glad you like it, though...hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised by the final product.

My comment was actually referring more to Black Isle's increasingly shallow and uninspired product line *as a whole*. Once upon a time they gave us Fallout, Baldur's Gate, and Planescape:Torment...and now we get Fallout: Tactics, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, and Icewind Dale (not to mention Lionheart and the upcoming Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, neither of which look much better). That's a pretty sad decline IMHO.

Seriously, find a list of BIS games in chronological order and read it. What's the first thing that pops out at you? To me it's the glaring, unmistakable trend towards superficial action-based gameplay (with the second most obvious trend being the switch from PC to console gaming). Great news for anyone who prefers that style of play, maybe, but not for those of us who enjoyed Black Isle's previous work.

Ah well, if Ion Storm could rebound from Daikatana to make Deus Ex I guess it's not too far-fetched to hope that BIS will eventually recover from its current madness. ;)

I suppose you're right. I guess they're just cashing in on their previous success. Not that I can blame them.

Minor note: Deus Ex was put out by a different division of Ion Storm. Romero (that playboy wannabe jackass) had nothing to do with it. Long live Warren Spector.

I bought the game. IMO, the first 5-10 hours are great. The rest of the game is pretty bad. It degrades into complete hack and slash with a pretty poorly designed engine.
