How do I install linux on my computer?

Instead of installing Linux on your machine I would go for trying to boot Linux Live CD. It helps me to learn Linux.

If you have a powerful enough system, you can also install Virtualbox, create a virtual machine, and install a Linux distro in it. Ubuntu and Linux Mint are both good options for a first dip into the Linux world due to ease of install.

This question is starting off poorly. If you have to ask... :^D

I'd try Ubuntu, and wubi. You can non-destructively try out Ubuntu, and it'll be nearly as fast as a real dual boot...
