cable will work fine.
use Samba to share files between windows and linux, if you are dual booting, windows will just be mounted as a partition you can read and write to.
games are still coming, depending on your hardware, winex might be the way to go. you can get it from www.transgaming.com
no need to have antivirus, not too many virus's written for linux, just keep up on your updates.

It look like your Zoltrix modem is a software modem. It might need some hunting & tweeking to get it to work for linux. It might be less stress to get a hardware modem if you needed one.

HP DeskJet 656C
Color inkjet printer, max. 600x600 dpi, works Perfectly

Try searching through major distro web site for there hardware compatibility list & www.linuxprinting.org to see the support status of printer.

cant write to windows partition if its an NTFS partition (which is likely if ints w2k/xp) as itll ruin your data/partition. there are tools to get it to a useable enough state to run chkdisk on it but i think its too risky and not worth the trouble it may cause.

fat32/16 works iirc. worthwhile to make a ~1gb partition as fat32 if you plan on transferring from linux to windows (linux can read ntfs fine, however)

I have a 3com hardware modem and linux can't configure it. However i can use it to dial up and use the net. I have no ideal why this 3com modem of mines did not install like my last usr modem. I do know it has hardware voice on it and that may be a factor. If anyone has any info that may help let me know?

If you do not want to go to linux, no one will force you. staying with an inferior, expensive, monopolistic (is that a word?) OS is your choice.

But seriously, run what you want.
