Linux Server Into a WIndows Peer to Peer

I have a small network, 10 pc's and I would like to add a Samba server to my Windows 98se peer to peer. I am currently using an Access dBase program that is shared on one of the 98 machines. As we all know, 98 is not the most stable OS in the world and not very secure either. I would like to place the Access file on the Linux server and map the 98 machines to the Linux drive. I know this can be done. I have been able in the past to get the Linux (Mandrake 8.2) machine to see the Windows but I cannot get the 98 machines to see the Linux machine. Please help. Ape Out.

There is a SAMBA FAQ. If that does not help, consult the almighty google.com. If that fails you you can check samba.org for the docs there. I will put this as bluntly as I can without getting carried away: Your post sucks, include relevant information or dont ask the question. Thank you 🙂

You took the time to pm me and whine about my "overly harsh" assesment of your posting ability, but not the time to correct what I complained about? That does not make any sense to me. Anyhow...

Post your smb.conf. Are both smbd and nmbd running? If you go to start run and something like \\linux_machine_name will it connect to the machine (it maybe forward slashes instead of backward slashes, I dont have a Windows network to try it with)? Thats all I can think of off hand, but Im sure there is more. 🙂
