Linux security

I set up a linux box running RH7. When I was using windows, I used grc.com to check my security. now I know that this site is a test for windows, but I thought I'd try it and see what happened when I checked my ports from behind my linux box. well a bunch of stuff shows up open, like port 79, and a couple others.

I set up my rc.firewall for a somewhat stronger ruleset than the defaults. I was just wondering if I should be concerned about these open ports.

Go get PMfirewall.
It's a front end for ipchains. I use it rather than trying to learn ipchains configuration.
PMFirewall
After getting ipchains setup with PMFirewall my box passed the test with flying colors.

I've also got Portsentry.Portsentry

FWIW you would probably be better searved by just turning off the services. run setup and shutoff any services you aren't using and edit your inetd.conf to exclude services you aren't using. you will need to restart inetd after this and manually stop any services you want stop
