Linux Screensaver CPU Utilization

Okay, whenever I run an OpenGL screensaver on my Linux system, the CPU utilization jumps to 100% and the temperature (which is normally around 35C) heats up to upwards of 60C. I'm running the latest NVIDIA drivers and all that. Is this normal? On the Windows side, the same thing happens, but the temperature usually stays around 47C or so, which is fine.

Sounds like the OpenGL parts of the Video driver aren't quite ready for prime time. I would file a bug report with Nvidia if you are usint their drivers.

I haven't noticed temps on my radeon9500pro but the cpu util does jump to the 90s on screensavers. So I usually just the old 'blank screen' as a screensaver.
