I am having a small problem. I have set up filesharing between Linux and WIN 98 SE. I am using My linux box for two primary reasons. To store my MP3s, and to become comfortable enough with Linux so I can move away from WINDOWS. I am using SuSE 6.3 for a Linux distribution. I have been messing with linux for a couple of years, but have not had a chance to really experiment with it. Heres the problem. I have file sharing working with Samba, but... When I access files on my Linux box from WIN 98, I can play MP3s right over the network and all. But when I try to upload things to the Linux box, it transfers about half of an MP3 and then an error occurs in window saying that the network resource(linux) has become unavailable. Is there a setting somewhere in Samba or something that controls how much data I can send? i can download anything I want, but when I try to put files up there, I get nowhere. Yes the permissions are set up right, As it does let me transfer a small amount. Just freezes up in the middle of it all. Any advice on this would prove very useful!!

Thanks in advance.

This is a problem with Windows, not Linux. I get the same errors here at work when transferring data en masse. I haven't tried it yet, but someone suggested that the PCI NIC is probably sharing an IRQ with another device, and to disable PCI IRQ sharing or to manually give it its own IRQ. Actually, I think the best way to do it was to move the NIC into PCI slot 5.

thanks I'll try that when I get home. Could that also be causing it not to always see my linux machine in network neighborhood?
