I just installed Mandrake 8.0 again, and this time my Rc5 says this

<< Net::failed to resolve name "us.v27.distributed.net"
ENOENT: no entry for requested name
>>

I read the FAQ about this, but I still dont understand how to fix it.

The thing is, it used to work on Linux, and all my windows clients can still connect.

Thanks

It sounds like a DNS issue. Try setting it up to flush to the IP address: 209.98.32.14.

If it works, then it is a DNS issue and you can work on solving that.

I tried this "./dnetc -a 209.98.32.14" and it still would not connect.

Could there be any other problem?

Im behind a NAT server, but just a few weeks ago (before I reinstalled Mandrake 8) it worked fine.

Which version of the client are you running? There was a problem with DNS lookups that was fixed in the version listed below:

2.8010.463 fix: linux/x86: resolved various dns lookup, lib and
portability issues by building against static libc5
client runs on all elf kernels, 2.0.x - 2.4.x-preX

So, I would imagine that this and subsequent versions shouldn't have this kind of problem anymore.

yah, I have read the FAQ about it on distributed.net, but I am using the latest client right now (dnetc v2.8015-469-CTR-010514210 , and it doesnt offer any other solution to the problem.
I am stumped.

Any help is still widly appreciated.

Version 469 does its networking differently from V463, I believe. You might try downgrading if you can get a copy of the old version someplace. I'm sure someone here who has it would be happy to send it to you.
