Linux Problem!!

Ok, i had Mandrake 8.1 and WinXP working using Lilo... but then for reasons i do not understand when i try to boot to Linux this is what i get:

Loading Linux...................................

Then... Nothing!!

I have tried to use the recue program on the Mandrake disk but it disables my USB mouse and keyboard making it impossible to use.

I have tried to reload Linux but it gives a Kernel Panic error.

I hate to say it but this is what makes Linux so damn hard to use. I can just about always correct Windoze errors, can't do a damn thing with Linux when it crashes!

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

What is the last thing that you did before this happened? Can you get into the system using a rescue/boot disk or whatever?

I am able to use my boot disk to get loaded all the way into Ximian Gnome. Problem is it does not detect anything USB, that includes the mouse and keyboard. Not much use without them!!

Nope, i think some sort of bios change... damn kids!!

The USB was not working at bootup when the problem began, i changed the settings so it would but it still is not recognized by Linux.

1. Is the USB working under Windows?
2. If you can boot into Linux with rescue disk or whatever, why don't you try run 'lilo' again?

Borrow a PS2 mouse & keyboard, then boot with the rescue disk so you can poke around.
USB is a PITA for keyboard & mouse anyway. What's the point??
