I saw on ScreenSavers an Ipaq running Linux instead of WindowsCE. Looked pretty cool, anybody have a link with more info on how to do something like that?
Check out this link. I am in the process to get an iPAQ (prob the 3670). I went to the LINUX expo in San Francisco last week and saw the iPAQ with LINUX first hand.
The Mobile LINUX O.S. is awesome, and the final release for the O.S. wont be out for another 4 weeks. The current release has a few quirks that need to be fixed. Hope the link helps.
Do they have screen working yet? Because if they don't I'm not interested. And as of 6 months ago they did not. So in that regard I find it extremely limited in functionality. One term? C'mon!

I am not sure about screen? But I did not see the need for it, when I used it at the Expo.
Ack! Maybe I'm off here. I was thinking of the stuff being developed for the handhelds in general. For instance, I have a Sharp Mobilion PV-6000 (MIPS processor).
I can do NetBSD, I can do Linux (kind of) but not screen, no X, and no power management. I can live w/o the power management. But one term? No fscking way!
This is a P.D.A. O.S. based on LINUX. And it was just awesome, I liked it so much I now want to buy an iPAQ to put it in it. We will see how that goes.
However, there are other flash images that will let you install a minimized KDE, or Gnome interface with LINUX. I have not seen any demos on it, but I read on a thread somewhere that it is possible. Maybe they have screen working there.
Well that link looks completely iPAQ oriented. No offense, but I'd really like something that would run on my MIPS. On my Sharp. 🙂 Nicely. With multiple terms and all. So I can like ditch WINCE (just sounds wrong doesn't it?).
