Question Linux on a USB or VM?

Wow. Maybe put Windows on a 2.5 inch SSD then (if that's what is screwing with the hardware).

I just updated UM42, and next time I booted BT was gone. Windows has its own SSD so I'm not overly concerned about loosing my BT, but it is weird and not really helping to promote Linux.

Currently Dolphin (file explorer) hangs if I launch it and if I try to save documents in Libre Office it also hangs, so I need to do some investigations....

Maybe a stable release is more interesting in the long run...

yeah Indus and I came to that conclusion in the end.

With stable releases you basically have:
Debian/debian based (most desktops) good debian based distros: Sparky, MX, Q4OS, Spiral
Indus is using Debian and I am using Spiral but I would probably recommend Sparky or Q4OS as spiral is still based on previous debian.

Ubuntu LTS (most desktops) good LTS based distros: Mint, Zorin, Tuxedo, Pop

Opensuse Leap (KDE,Gnome,Xfce,MATE) pretty good package support, RPM based but not necessarily compatible with Fedora RPMs.

Openmandriva Rock (KDE) interesting community project that's sort of the remnant of the old Mandrake linux. compiled with clang and has some ryzen optimizations. Also RPM based but not compatible with Opensuse or Fedora RPMs.

I really wanted to give this one a solid go, but they only offer KDE desktop right now, GNOME is beta and I had issues with it, all other desktops are alpha state.

Now steam won't launch and the computer will not restart/shutdown.

I think I'll be looking into a KDE plasma + Debian distro.

So I decided to install KDE debian over my mint partition, but since it doesn't support BTRFS in Grub, I couldn't boot into Ultramarine. I asked Claude and it helped getting the Ultramarine available. But it just show an error when booting. So great times ahead. Both debian and Windows work, so it should be manageable.
