Installed Linux to use DHCP, NIC light is on. How do I configure browser to access internet? How do I verify that I have an IP? How to verfy sound, CD is playing, speaker works, but I don't hear any thing. Please point to a link I can read up on these basic config info. I am an MS expert, but lost in the world of Linux.

I would install a newer version Red Hat, especially if you have newer hardware. Look at Fedora Core 3.

Yep. Redhat 7 sucked when it was new. (beleive me, it was the first Linux distro I ever used)

Check out Ubuntu or get the newest version of Fedora Core (which is the free version of Redhat nowadays).

If your on a dialup or something like that were you can't burn new cds then Ubuntu will actually mail you a copy of their cds at no cost to you... they even pay for shipping.
