Hello

I want to experiment with linux mint.

I have loaded it on a spare desktop drive and it woks great. (only mint drive)

My desktop OD is win 8.1 which I believe has UEFI.

I copied the desktop HDD to a 2.5" HDD and inserted it into my laptop,
and I get an error there is no bootable device??

laptopo OS is win 8.1, and has UEFI

so what gives?

why can mu desktop window 8.1 boot with the linux HDD installed
but my win 8.1 laptop can't??

both are using linux mint HDD a primary/boot drive

You probably need to install the 2.5" drive in the laptop and allow it to be discovered and formatted first, before loading Linux on it.
